I could live inside a nutshell
like Thumbelina floating
down the river to new
adventures
I would peek over the edge
blinking at the sunlight
reflecting off of iridescent
dragonfly wings
I should step off the edge
get my toes wet
take the plunge to new
adventures

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your take on the prompt. I like the idea of an adventure but would be terrified if I was as small as Thumbelina.

Childlike fascination and imagination is something we should all visit within ourselves once a day, just to stop taking ourselves so seriously! Great and magical poem - made me smile!
ReplyDeleteAh, how wonderful to live inside a nutshell! :)
ReplyDeletefun!
ReplyDeleteThe inner child has taken wing, Thumbelina through the looking glass; no parameters but imagination & innocence; smiling so hard I cracked the corners of my lips; thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, so would I! A magical adventure of discovery indeed!
ReplyDeleteLove this, especially Thumbelina in a nutshell!
ReplyDeleteNice poem, Nessa.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Thumbelina but haven't read it.
I'm better at nursery rhymes:
Ladybug! Ladybug!
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire.
And your children all gone.
All except one,
And that's little Ann,
For she crept under
The frying pan
..
love the spirit of the poem...
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun. Take me with you!
ReplyDeleteWe used to take nut shells like this one and make owls with them. The shape looks like an owl's head.
Lovely images...the world from a fairy's view...think I'd like to take a ride with the dragonfly!
ReplyDeletea little fiction here... nice
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous Nessa I love the opening stanza
ReplyDeleteAh, a piece of magic. :-)
ReplyDeleteA magical image.
ReplyDeleteNice! Sometimes the hardest thing about taking the plunge to a new adventure is that FIRST step!
ReplyDeleteSounds cozy and delightful!
