Flash 55 - Promises

you asked to meet me
beneath the blue
branches of the weeping
willow leaves dark
in the shadowed
heart brushing aside
my resolve like widow’s
weeds draped over heaving
shoulders pushing back
down my objections
soaking my breast
with sobs of undying
passion and devotion
promising pleading
until I crack
yet you are not here

Hey, look over there on the top right.
Yeah, you can now sign up for my awesome newsletter
- PLEASE -
she says begging rather obviously.

  1. whew...lots of emotion in this one...the widow's weeds is a great touch allowing us to see into it as well...and how chilling that last line...

  3. Awww! I didn't want that ending. But I loved all the imagery you tucked inside every single line.

  5. This tugs at the heart then kicks you where it hurts with that last line.

  6. Sounds like every stupid guy I ever made the mistake of giving my heart to! Only you put it much more eloquently than I would.

  8. Excellent stream of consciousness style, works really well with the sense of emotions tumbling around, falling out, splashing with acid. Great 55.
