Wanted: Dead or Alive?
alive
pounding blood
extravagant thoughts
tingling elbows
anticipation
dead
adding machine keys
greasy dish water
grungy underwear
stagnation
alive
bursting colored lights
thumping beats
sharp bright citrus
dead
crusty gummed eyelids
dry tight throat
shingling skin cells
alive
crystal blue skies
diamond cut sunshine
ruby red cheeks
sparks flying between
fingertips
inquisitive minds
& questing lips
pounding blood

tingling elbows
anticipation

I’ll take ‘alive’ especially after reading the last verse. Funnily enough I am reading Siegfried Sassoon’s “The War Poems” which oddly share the same sentiment.
ReplyDeletei like the inquisitive and the questing...smiles....some interesting texture you give to being alive....
ReplyDeleteAnd long may you live and thrive! :)
ReplyDeleteVanessa Kilmer...(Thanks)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid grungy underwear is NOT dead in my neck of the woods..:-)

Whew-Quite the contrasts! thanks, interesting.
ReplyDeleteYuck....I'll take alive anyday! I especially like sparks flying between fingertips. I want that. Right now! Wonderful imagery.
ReplyDeleteFor everything there is a season. Just think about all those little creepy creatures that can't wait for the dead, even the Grateful Dead.
ReplyDeleteI like your contrast, and the back and forth. And I've had enough death, I'll choose life :o)
ReplyDeleteSign me up for alive which I plan to be until I die.
ReplyDelete.. don't know about the G-Man ... you made me smile though.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun one. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteMy little story began with my grandmother's elevator- :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Miss Vanessa....
ReplyDeleteDon't think I didn't notice how thoughtful and gracious you were to other 55ers today.
