Raindrop jewel glistens & beckons.
Reach out in eagerness,
excitement expressed in the trembling of fingers.
Skin pricked, membrane broken,
blood and water mix.

Strangely beautiful and very well done :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful description of a really ouchy experience. Maybe I should ask you to write one about the time I put my hand out to touch this beautiful rose and some freaky, alien-looking spider the color of one of the leaves bit the living hell out of me! True story.
ReplyDeleteLove this description of the surprises we get when we're consumed with the beauty.
ReplyDeleteThe surprise--and the pain--can be worth it. Beauty is worth the risk.
ReplyDeleteNormally I'd be charmed with the lyrical quality of this, even if it's a little dark, but right now I'm badly mosquito bitten and all I can think is "SLAP! Ewww." It's the blood thing.
ReplyDeleteThorns amid the beauty....nicely expressed.
ReplyDeletebeautifully written 160.
ReplyDelete:)
How very Ironic Vanessa Kilmer...
ReplyDeleteBecause you are a Rose Among The Thorns!!
Loved your 160.....G
Uh ouch! Yep, I've done it too. Very nice.

I've done the same thing, but the results of your pain are a whole lot better than mine!! Have a great day, Nessa!

Ouch! Nice 160. I'm picturing a weeping woman who has a hidden but obvious "do not touch" aura about her.
ReplyDeleteVery thought provoking Nessa.
ReplyDeleteI also totally agree with your Twitter comment - that if potatoes are healthy then what is wrong with being a couch potato? That's what I'm going to be today!
Could this be considered suffering for art? If so, it was worth it for this lovely 160.
ReplyDeleteThe times I've reached out to a rose and snagged my finger on a thorn.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful writing..... caught it well.

Very creative shot! I hope it didn't hurt too bad. :)
ReplyDeleteNice photo. Yucca?
ReplyDeleteI think "Old Glory" is a wonderfully reflective photo of a flag floating from a foot bridge over the Delaware river. James of Newtown Area Photo took it.
ReplyDelete"Prick of Life" is entry #95 on his meme.
Ouch. I feel the pain. Great Sunday 160. Thanks so much for playing.
ReplyDeleteI love the imagery. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteah you get even poetic when you prick your skin…that's devotion…piercy 160
ReplyDeletean interesting perspective in the pic...had to look at it a bit...my finger is in my mouth now sucking away the pain.. nice 160!
ReplyDeleteHi Nessa ~~ I hear that 'Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Raindrops' are singing your song. :)
ReplyDelete..
Well, it's the price you must pay for beauty. Picking roses is hard!
ReplyDeleteLOL - my language is usually much bluer when I have this experience, not lyrical like yours.
ReplyDeleteOw. Fingertips so sensitive, with good reason.
ReplyDeleteVery nice life moment. Well, I mean your writing's very nice. Not getting an owie.

Your love is the thorn
that pricks me gently
Great shot!
ReplyDeleteI remember my pain when I was pricked trimming my roses last week.
Rain rain everywhere! It's raining raindrops on blogs too (mine included)!! :)
ReplyDeleteBut no pricking of fingers for me.. But I know that feeling.. a splinter or thorn accident, paper nicks.. Yeow!
The fusion of wow and ouch is very beautifully expressed in this piece.. And then, what's blood..what's water.. nothing but another liquid..
Stupendous Nessa!!
ReplyDeletebeautifully well written 160..cheers Pete
ReplyDeleteNicely done Nessa!

Life is like that! So beautifully told with a picture.
ReplyDeleteInsightful and wonderful 160. The words and photo go so well together. I love to see the beautiful raindrops.
