Nessa, this is a neat one. Though I never would have guessed having an EKG. If it were running for exercise, your poet would have needed to have started out with walking then work up to running. Probably he still needs to exercise more at any rate. Thanks for using the prompt--mine this week--its been a fun one. .. Forgot to tell you how much I liked the "c," "f," and "ing" repetitive usage. :) ..
Thank you for the nice words about Susie. Susie is my older daughter. She is very creative and is a good writer. Too bad her love is for music, she writes that too. Karen is my younger daughter. She is a workaholic in the corporate world and is making bukoos of $$$$$. One of my friends call her "Wonder Woman." They each had writing blogs at one time. Karen's took too much of her time. Susie was always dissatisfied because her writing wasn't at perfection. ..
I tried to place the lines on the “paper” like the lines on a ekg printout.
I saw that the prompt was yours. That’s why I made sure I did OSI again. I’m glad you like the repitativeness. I thought of it as your feet hitting the ground.
Your daughters sound like wonderful women. Susie’s poem was wonderful and I listened to some of her music and enjoyed it very much.
I love the image. Head ache pounding and gripped fist gave me a furious visual. Someone who hates running. And then when you said ekg print out, that really summed everything up.
This is the exact feeling I had when I was a kid trying to walk home at night in the dark! I would start out sauntering, "I am not afraid," then I'd start walking faster, faster, faster until ....
The lineation on this is inspired.
ReplyDeleteThis one was almost unsettling, one can sense some fear through it. Well written as always...
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday,

Remind me to start running one of these days if this is how I'm gonna feel :) LOL
ReplyDelete"Caving to compulsion"--what runner's do. What I do as a walker. Thanks for this vivid description of the experience.
ReplyDeleteToo much like hard work for me.
ReplyDeleteRonda: I was thinking of the printout of an ekg machine.
ReplyDeleteProtege: There's always fear of something dogging me.
Thom: I don't think it's good for you.
Sandy: I could use a little more of it.
My heart started racing by the third line. It feels like an accelerated heartbeat! Great job :)
ReplyDeleteSusan: I'm glad it worked. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreat writing..there is such a presence of impending doom..an impact in silence! Wonderful
ReplyDeleteKiki~
When I was younger I preferred bicycling, like sitting down while running.

ReplyDeleteOh those stress tests can be vicious! Amiodorone is one nasty drug and the head does some serious aching with each dose!
ReplyDeleteThis is unsettling. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI think you've nailed running there. Nicely done.

ReplyDeleteJuliana: I love playing with my camera.
ReplyDeleteAdrianna: I hate running, too. But I’m always doing it and not for health reasons.
5thsister: I’ve never had it and I will stay away from it.
Mama Zen: Thanks.
anthonynorth: Thank-you.
Quilly: That’s too funny. I still like to scare myself like that.
Oh this exhilarating!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting piece. I love running, but I don't do it as much these days.
